Hello! My name is Danny Ortiz and I am a music instructor who provides in-home and virtual drum lessons. I have been teaching the drums set in the northern Virginia area for around eighteen years now and have been performing music for about eighteen years. I studied music at George Mason University and currently gig around the area, play shows across the east coast, and do lessons locally. On the drum set I have focused on genres like rock, jazz, latin, hip hop and pop.

Taking music lessons can be a very motivating and exciting experience. I have found that kids and adults alike benefit from the guidance of a more experienced player to narrow down what to practice. My approach to teaching is to focus on things like technique, reading, and performance while also having fun and setting up challenges to expand your current abilities. The act of practicing music is a fantastic way of exercising the brain and later on can be a rewarding creative outlet.
